If you want to determine your naturally curly hair type, you’re in luck because it’s pretty easy. We even have a curly hair types quiz here for you to take!

Everyone’s hair is unique, but most curlies tend to fall in one of the groups defined below. To find your natural curl pattern, you should take a quiz. But for now, here are the types in case you can identify yourself:

2a, 2b, 2c

3a, 3b, 3c

4a, 4b, 4c

To find your curl type, first think about if your hair is wavy, curly, or kinky/coily.

If you have wavy hair, you’ll be in the 2 range. Curly hair will be in the 3 range. And a kinky/coily curl pattern will fall under the 4 range.

Then, you need to decide what level your curl pattern is, within wavy, curly, and coily.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to find the right products for your natural hair type and your curls will look great!
